The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the 2026-27 PG seat matrix covering MD, MS, Diploma, DM and MCh seats. After the NEET PG 2026 result, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) began All India Quota (AIQ) counselling on 12 October 2026. Round 2 opens on 6 November.

State quota vs AIQ
NEET PG admissions involve two distinct seat categories:
- All India Quota (AIQ): 50% of seats in government colleges (excluding Jammu & Kashmir), 100% seats in central universities (such as BHU, AMU, DU), deemed universities, and DNB institutions. Counseling is handled centrally by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
- State quota: the remaining 50% of government college seats meant for in-state candidates (specifically MBBS graduates of the state), plus all seats in state private and minority colleges. Counseling is managed by the respective state authorities.

How do I get MD admission in India?
Qualify NEET PG, then register for MCC counselling for All India Quota seats or your state’s counselling for state quota seats. Fill and lock your choices, accept the seat allotted and report to the college with original documents. You need an MBBS degree, completed internship and NMC or State Medical Council registration.

The National Board of Examinations (NBE) rescheduled NEET PG 2025 to a single shift on August 3, 2025 (original date June 15, 2025), following Supreme Court approval and a demand backed by about 90% of aspirants for fairness in scoring. Reasons given included delays in final-year MBBS results, overlap with other major medical exams and demands from student groups and medical associations. The application window originally opened in April–May.
