JEE Advanced Exam for Engineering

JEE Advanced exam will be held on May 18, 2025.

Paper 1 will be held from 9 am to 12 noon and paper 2 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Candidates must attempt both papers to be eligible for admission to the IITs. The registered candidates can download the JEE Advanced 2025 admit card from May 11 to May 18.

The JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria have been rolled back to twice in two consecutive years from thrice in three consecutive years. IIT Kanpur officially launched the official website of JEE Advanced 2025, jeeadv.ac.in and has updated the JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria and JEE Advanced 2025 syllabus. The syllabus remains the same as last year with no changes.

The Indian candidates who will qualify for the JEE Main 2025 cutoff for JEE Advanced 2025 can register for the exam. The Top 2.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main 2025 will be allowed to participate in JEE Advanced 2025. On the other hand, foreign nationals do not need to qualify JEE Main and can directly register for the IIT JEE Advanced exam. However, candidates of all nationalities must have passed class 12 boards in 2024 or 2025 to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025. JEE Advanced is the second qualifying exam for IIT admissions, the first being JEE Main. JEE Advanced exam has two papers, each containing three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. Candidates must refer to the JEE Advanced syllabus 2025 and JEE Advanced previous year question papers to prepare for the exam.

Those who qualify in the JEE Advanced exam are offered seats in IITs based on their course preference and JEE Advanced ranks via a common process by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).

#1. JEE Main 2025 scores

Candidates should be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in the BE/BTech Paper of JEE (Main) 2025. Last year, as many as 250284 candidates passed JEE Mains to appear for JEE Advanced. Check the table below:

#2. Age limit

Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. Five years of age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates, i.e. these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1995.

#3. Number of attempts

A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in two consecutive years. The candidates who have appeared for JEE Advanced 2024 for the first time, can also appear for JEE Advanced 2025. Also, the candidates who will appear for JEE Advanced 2025 for the first time can participate in JEE Advanced 2026. Candidates who took JEE Advanced in 2023 or earlier cannot appear in JEE Advanced 2025.

#4. Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination

Candidates who passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025 are eligible for JEE Advanced 2025.

Candidates who appeared in Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2023 or earlier, are NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2025, irrespective of the combination of subjects attempted/offered.

#5. Earlier admission at IITs

A candidate should NOT have been admitted to an IIT irrespective of whether or not the candidate continued in the program OR accepted an IIT seat by reporting “online” / at a “reporting centre” in the past.

Change in JEE Advanced eligibility: OCI/PIO card holders who have secured OCI/PIO card before 04.03.2021, are considered as Indian nationals for seat allocation to IITs.

JEE Advanced 2025 Application Form

Only those candidates who secure JEE Main 2025 rank among the top 2.5 lakh candidates are eligible to fill the JEE Advanced application form. The application process is online and the form is available only on the official website.

Scanned documents to be uploaded in the online application form:

Candidates will have to upload scanned documents in the online form. The required documents are given below:

  1. Class X certificate if the date of birth is mentioned in it or the birth certificate.
  2. Class XII (or equivalent examination) certificate
  3. Class XII (or equivalent examination) certificate
  4. If the candidate’s name is not the same as in the Class X certificate, a gazette notification showing the change of name.
  5. Caste certificates as needed.

MD vs MBBS: Highlights

MD full form is Doctor of Medicine and MBBS full form is (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery). In India, both MD and MBBS are medical degrees, but they represent different stages of medical education and training.
