Punjab’s Toll Relief Revolution: Bhagwant Mann Government Shuts Down 21 Toll Plazas in Just 4 Years
In a major relief for commuters, the government led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has achieved a significant milestone by shutting down 21 toll plazas across the state within just four years. With the closure of these toll plazas, nearly 590 kilometers of roads in Punjab have become toll-free, providing substantial financial relief to daily travelers, transporters, and local residents.
According to official estimates, the move is helping people save approximately ₹67.7 lakh every single day that would otherwise have been spent on toll payments. The decision has particularly benefited farmers, traders, and daily commuters who frequently travel on these routes. The state government says the initiative reflects its commitment to reducing the financial burden on citizens and improving road accessibility across Punjab. By eliminating several toll barriers, travel has become smoother, faster, and more economical for thousands of vehicles moving through the state every day.
The Mann government has described this step as part of its broader effort to prioritize public welfare and ensure that infrastructure development directly benefits the people of Punjab.
